Nobody can stop OneRepublic's music from becoming more and more popular for the filming industry. After Jerry Bruckheimer picked the song Secrets as title track for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (we reported), one of their songs of their album Waking Up has now been chosen for another movie.

If OneRepublic is U2 Jr., is that such a bad thing? Probably not. A lot of ’80s bands - Simple Minds, the Call, Tears for Fears, to name three - followed in U2’s footsteps. Now it’s OneRepublic’s turn, as the Denver-based quintet showed with its 65-minute set at House of Blues on Thursday.

Formed in the early ’00s by singer/songwriter/keyboardist Ryan Tedder and guitarist Zach Filkins, One-Republic broke through in 2007 with the piano-based ballad “Apologize,” which got a boost from the song’s remix on Timbaland’s “Shock Value.”

OneRepublic spread some soccer fever on their gig at Terminal 5 in New York last night. Marchin On is the official Worldcup song for the German soccer team and despite the team's loss some hours before, the band animated the crowd to celebrate the Worldcup while performing that song. Some of you may have seen it on television already. OneRepublic's hit Secrets is used for a commercial of a fragrance of a popular designer brand. No, this is NOT a sponsored article!
It is true. The band evidently has a partnership with Ralph Lauren on the "Big Pony Campaign" for which they provided an alternative music video for their single “Secrets” with a famed photographer. Crushable met Ryan Tedder yesterday shortly before the band's concert at Terminal 5 in New York and talked with him about this partnership and his personal style. ... Read more»
